About this project
The Mud Creek project is designed to alleviate existing and future flooding concerns in the area to support future development and pathway connectivity, while protecting the environment and wildlife surrounding Mud Creek.

Creating an naturalized and stable channel corridor to support the ecological environment and wildlife
Creating new recreational pathway connections
Landscaping to enhance walkability and public amenity space
This work will reduce the frequency of flooding in the area, improve the ecological condition of the corridor, and create a new multi-use pathway for residents to use along the creek.
The City will be starting site preparations for the fourth phase of the Mud Creek project (Phase 2B) this fall. The project is meeting the recommendations of a 2017 Environmental Assessment and an Environmental Impact Study public process. The studies concluded that the Mud Creek channel system was in poor condition and recommended to enlarge the channel to reduce flooding on Oxford Street and to improve the environmental habitat. Work began in 2021 in phases for several improvements along Mud Creek, and is continuing this fall and in 2024 in the area of Oxford Street and Proudfoot Lane.

Project update meetings
The City of London hosted a meeting on September 20 at Cherryhill Library about improvements being made to Mud Creek. Londoners could speak with staff, review display materials, and ask questions at this meeting.
A second drop in meeting then took place on October 25 at Fleetway Bowling Alley (The Spare Room) for anyone who could not attend this first meeting. At this meeting, attendees could also speak to City staff about a zoning by-law amendment and draft plan of subdivision application at 323 Oxford Street West, 92 and 825 Proudfoot Lane.
