About this project
The City of London is planning a construction project to improve Northdale Woods Channel.
Northdale Woods Channel, located in northeast London, helps collect stormwater and directs it towards Stoney Creek. This project will help reduce blockages and flooding in the future by reconstructing parts of the channel and removing sediment and debris in the channel. Improvements will also be made to control erosion in the area.
The map below shows the project area.
This project includes:
Cleaning out the Northdale Woods Channel
Replanting the area with native tree species after construction
Timeline:
Construction is expected to start in summer 2024 and is anticipated to last until fall 2024. The area will be replanted with native tree species after the construction project is complete.
Tree removals:
Tree removals are planned to start in February 2024. These tree removals are necessary to allow crews access to the channel to complete the work. More than half of the trees being removed are also invasive species.
During the project’s design, an arborist walked to site to evaluate the current health of the trees, and determine how the area could be accessed while reducing impacts to trees and structures as much as possible. Tree removals were determined based on the tree’s health and if its location conflicts with the construction work.
