Stoney Creek Pathway Connection to the Thames Valley Parkway
The City of London is planning to connect the Stoney Creek Valley multi-use pathway system on the north side of Windermere Road to the Thames Valley Parkway (TVP) North Branch, south of the Thames River. This project will create an important connection between the secondary pathway system and the primary TVP. This connection was identified within the approved Environmental Assessment for the Thames Valley Parkway North Branch Connection, in 2017.
Project Location:
The pathway will be installed on the north side of Windermere Road east of Stoney Creek Valley to the Stoney Creek Bridge on Windermere Road. East of the Stoney Creek Bridge, the path will switch to the south side of Windermere Road via a new pedestrian crossing and will continue east through the Windermere Fields towards Adelaide Street. On Adelaide Street, the existing sidewalk and cycling lane on the west side of the road will be replaced with a 3-metre wide asphalt multi-use pathway. The multi-use pathway will continue south of the Adelaide Street bridge, where the existing transition to the TVP and into North London Athletic Fields will be improved with better sightlines and a wider curve.
The conversion of the sidewalk and on-road bike lane, to a multi-use path on the west side of the Adelaide Street Bridge, is planned to occur in 2025 as part of a larger bridge rehabilitation project.
